Uptown
Entertainment and Development Corporation The Uptown Entertainment and Development Corporation (UEDC), owners of the historic Uptown Theater in North Philadelphia since 2002, reaches an important milestone in June--the completion of the first phase of renovation of what will be the theater’s education and entertainment tower. This will be celebrated with public tours being offered on June 23, 2012 from 1 to 2 p.m. In May 2012, the UEDC began its “Uptown $5 Million” campaign to begin the second and final phase of the Uptown Theater renovation which will restore the auditorium. The second phase, scheduled to begin in August 2012 will be completed by 2013 once the $5 million goal is reached. On June 21,
will be the 2nd Annual Philly Music Appreciation Ceremony and
fundraiser at 5:30
p.m. at the Ethical Society (1906 Rittenhouse Square) honoring actor
Will Smith, producer Earl Young Senator Shirley Kitchen,
Entrepreneur/producer James Elam, entertainment reporter Kimberly
Roberts of the Philadelphia Tribune, WRNB 100.3 radio personality
